Gyuhun Jo was born in Incheon, South Korea, in 1982. From a young age, Jo was influenced by Japanese manga and animation, which shaped his artistic growth. In university, he majored in animation, further deepening his connection to visual storytelling. After graduation, he began his career as a picture book illustrator. However, a turning point came when he opened his first solo exhibition through a competition, marking the beginning of his life as a professional artist. Currently, he continues to engage with the public through his work on "Children with Hidden Faces."  Jo begins to paint these "Children Hiding Their Faces" as he Is inspired by a significant scene of a film that he has fortuitously come across, that a girl in a white shirt is crying with her hands covering her face. This scene has left a strong impression on him and later encouraged him to paint with children as his subject. As he explained his concept, he mentions that he can feel these different feelings and expressions of children hidden behind their hands, and he also hopes the audiences can enjoy the moment when they are imagining the facial expressions behind these hands. His works has been represented in group shows worldwide, like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, London or Paris and he had solo shows in Seoul and Madrid.
